House; now house and shop, restaurant and flat. C17 and early C18 with C19 and C20 shop alterations. Render with painted projecting quoins and ashlar dressings; roof of Welsh slate with stone gable copings; stone chimneys. Rear wings. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 4:3-window range. Left shop front has substantial C19 fluted Ionic columns supporting fascia and modillioned cornice, with central recessed entrance and C20 glazing. Right shop front has plain glazing and large C20 fascia board possibly obscuring earlier detail. Central boarded passage door and 4-pane overlight in plain stone surround. 4-pane sashes to No.2 and plain sashes to no.4 on first floor in plain stone surrounds; on second floor, architraves to smaller casements to No.2 and plain sashes to No.4. Deep eaves gutter cornice. Steeply pitched roof has stone gable copings resting on moulded kneelers. Tall end chimneys. Rear wing to No.2 of 3-storey, 2-window range and 2-storey, 2-window, range; 6-panel and 4-panel doors, and 16-pane and 4-pane sashes. Rear wing to No.4 of 3 storeys and basement; 5-window range; side stone steps to 2-panel door in bolection moulded surround with stone-bracketed hood. Plain stone surrounds to basement lights, some blocked, with stone mullions, and architraves to sashes, some with broad glazing bars. C19 oriel above door, and another on shorter left rear wing to No.2 with early C19 sashes. INTERIOR: No.2 has dogleg stair, with moulded handrail and boxed balustrade; blocked corner fire, surround removed; roof of pegged collared trusses with 2 levels of off-set purlins. No.4 has 2-panel doors on upper floors, with raised fielded panels in moulded frames, and L-hinges. Some early C18 fielded panelling. At rear of upper flat a C17 stone fireplace with deeply-cut quasi-gadroon and bullet moulding on deep bolection moulded surround set on square panelled blocks, and with entablature with scallop moulding on fascia. Front range roof has collared pegged A-trusses, 2 with bowed tie beams, with two levels of purlins; many original common rafters; no ridge piece.
