SJ3288NW CLIFTON CRESCENT 789-1/13/46 (South East side) 28/03/74 Edward VII Memorial Clock Tower (Formerly Listed as: BOROUGH ROAD (North side) Edward VII Memorial Clock Tower)

GV II

Clock Tower. Dated 1911. By Edmund Kirby. Portland stone. Stepped base then rusticated plinth with low relief coats of arms, and lions at angles. Doric fluted shaft above with triglyph frieze and modillion cornice below the clock itself which is flanked by volutes and has ribbed cap with urn and ball finial. Narrow doorway giving access to internal staircase in one face of shaft, and on the other, an inscription recording the erection of the tower by public subscription as memorial to King Edward.
