Includes: No.18 NICHOLAS STREET. Warehouse, now offices. 1870, by Clegg and Knowles; altered. Brown brick in Flemish bond, with sandstone dressings and slate roof. Rectangular plan on end-of-block site. Italianate style. Basement and 4 storeys, 5 bays to Nicholas Street and 3 bays to Faulkner Street; with altered basement, banded ground floor with deep sill-band and Lombard frieze, giant pilasters to the upper floors with enriched imposts, bracketed cornice. The ground floor has wide segmental-arched openings with brick heads imitating splayed voussoirs, containing coupled sashed windows with incised decoration in the tympani except the 3rd bay to Faulkner Street which is a tall doorway with moulded surround, panelled double doors and internal steps; the upper floors have 2 sashed windows in each bay, the topmost round-headed and the others segmental-headed, with ornamented sills and heads. Interior not inspected.
