GV II
House. C17, refaced in C18 and refenestrated in early C19. L-shaped 2 storeys. North wing is of red brick with grey headers in diaper pattern Flemish bond. Roof has lower courses of stone slates, the upper courses tiled. 5 windows, 2 or 3-light casements. Ground floor has two 3-light canted bays with 30 panes. Off central mid C19 doorcase with flat wooden hood on brackets and 3 panelled door, the top 2 panels glazed. Right hand side has stone quoins. L wing is of stone with red brick dressings and tiled roof. 3 C20 casements in old window surrounds. Central modern gabled porch. South gable has datestone 1668 with initials L.B. (Levinus Bennett of Arreton Manor). 16-pane sash on 1st floor and ground floor has C18 3-light mullioned window. V.C.H. considers this site to have been the Domesday manor of Presletone. (V C H: 148; The Manor Houses of the Isle of Wight: C.W.R. Winter: 193).
