House, now offices. c1861. Possibly by Charles Hansom. Squared Brandon Hill Grit rubble with limestone dressings, tall lateral stacks and a slate cross-gabled roof. Double-depth plan. Gothic Revival style. 2 storeys, attic and basement; 3-window range. A near symmetrical front has 2 steep gables, the left one projecting, with quoins, kneelers and a moulded coping. Moulded ground-floor label and first-floor sill band extend round the building. Central doorway has a steep gabled porch on foliate corbels, with a patterned tympanum and finial, a 2-centred arch, and doorway with moulded lintel, trefoil window above and a double C20 door. Ground-floor windows have pointed heads with trefoil panels between them, 3-light window to the left and a 4-light bay with weathered head to the right with trefoil headed sashes. First-floor windows have shouldered heads, 3-light window to the left with a label and impost band, and 3-light right-hand window set in a 2-centred ashlar arch with a quatrefoil panel. 2-light left-hand attic window has trefoil heads, quatrefoil openings over the doorway and in the right-hand gable and a central C20 dormer. Right-hand return has 3 ridged dormers, left-hand return has a steep rear gable as the front. INTERIOR not inspected.
