GV II

Town house c.1750, stuccoed with some early and mid C19 alterations. Four storeys, basement and pedimented dormers. Ground floor has original stone architrave doorcase with bracketed cornice on consoles and a single, wide, ie altered window. First floor windows in moulded architraves with cornices. On second floor windows have mid C19 eared architraves segmental headed and keyed. Balustraded parapet above moulded cornice. Continuous early C19 cast iron balcony. Spear head area railings. Interior has groin vaulted vestibule with architrave doorcases, pulvinated friezes and cornices, mahogany doors. Cut string stone staircase with original cast iron Chinese-Chippendale balustrade. First floor front room fitted out as library with pilastered bookcases above dado; rear room has moulded dado rail and framing to panels, also late C18 marble chimneypieces, etc. Part of best surviving terrace of town houses in the square.
