Details
BRAMPTON SK37SW BASLOW ROAD 1264-0/2/95 (North side) 05/06/80 Rufford Farmhouse, including attached boundary wall GV II Farmhouse. Mid C19. Regularly coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings, advanced quoins, coped gables surmounted at the east end with ball finials on tapered stems (one now missing), moulded kneelers, and ashlar ridge and gable stacks. Graduated slate roof. Double-pile paln. South elevation of two storeys and three bays, symmetrical, with a central doorway having massive flush jambs, deep lintel, and a moulded and bracketed canopy. Six panel door, below a rectangular overlight. Flanking ground-floor windows are C20 three-light casements without glazing bars set in moulded stone surrounds, which are slightly shouldered. Three first-floor two-light casements, in similar surrounds, each casement asymmetrically divided into four panes. Single-storey wing projects to north at west end of rear pile. Low coursed masonry boundary wall with flat coping extends from east side, along to east corner of front range, linking with lower wall with chamfered coping surmounted by spear-headed iron railings, with an intermediate pier in front of the front doorway. The wall sweeps up to its former height, and on to a side gate, also with spear headed rails, and beyond to join the house at the end of a sweep around to the rear of the front range.
