Hydraulic engine house chimney. 1888. Brick and terracotta. Detached octagonal chimney stack with a flared terracotta cap. Drew the boiler furnace for the Engine House steam engine (qv). Part of the complete group of docks buildings built on the Underfall Yard in the mid 1880s. Powered the extensive hydraulic system within the Docks. '..nowhere else is the essential character of the dock landscape preserved so completely' (Lord and Southam). (Lord J and Southam J: The Floating Harbour: Bristol: 1983-: 64).
