GV II
Former house now store. Early and late medieval clad in corrugated iron in C20. Timber-framed building jettied to front with tiled roof. Front elevation has late C18 6-fielded panelled door and adjoining 6-pane casement to right. Ground floor has large modern garage doors. Side elevation has 3 fixed casements to 1st floor and ground floor has 2 fixed casements and a plank door. Right side elevation clad in thick horizontal weatherboarding and rear elevation vertically weatherboarded. Interior has a fine cruciform crownpost roof with curved timber braces to road. Jowled cornerposts and some exposed wattle and daub. Inglenook and fireplaces of C16 brickwork on all floors. Chimneystack cut off at roof level. Some C16 iron casement windows. Daub walls. C16 or earlier flooring. Excellent moulded tie beam supports the crownposts. Early 3-plank doors. Cellar supports building via stone buttresses protruding from walls and has 2 stone fireplaces with wooden lintels. (Cozier P: Survey of buildings in West Malling: ITEM 17).
