GV II

Lime-burner's cottage on the Sharpham estate. Circa mid C19. Local stone rubble and red brick dressings. Steeply pitched asbestos slate roof with ornate scalloped bargeboards. Projecting gable end stacks with rendered shafts. Plan: A symmetrical 2-room cottage with a central entrance and a small single-storey outhouse at either end. In the C20 the right had outhouse was converted into a kitchen and a single-storey bathroom extension was added at the back. Exterior: 2 storey. Symmetrical 2-window range, the first floor windows in small gables with ornate scalloped bargeboards. Original 2-light windows with leaded panes, one of the lights of each window has iron casement. All the windows have segmental red brick arches and a C20 plank door but its porch has been replaced by a verandah in the late C20 which runs across the entire width of the house including the single-storey outhouses at either end. The outhouses have gable-ended roofs and late C20 plank doors. At the rear a single storey C20 flat roof extension. Interior: was not inspected.
