SO5174 Town Walls: from Old Gate House, 825-1/1/73 westwards 15/04/54 (Formerly Listed as: Remains of town walls, together with fragments of towers and gates)

GV II

Town Walls. From Old Gate House, westwards to Broad Gate. C13. Stone rubble on bedrock, with some brickwork. Approximately 5m-8m high. C18 brick superstructure with pilasters. 3 brick-vaulted openings, possibly former lime kilns. Summerhouse in garden of No.2 Brand Lane, over. Battered repairs. Stone coped brick superstructure, with rubble buttress.
