Law library. 1885, by Thomas Hartas. Sandstone ashlar, slate roof. Rectangular plan. Venetian Gothic style. Two-storey 3-bay facade with basement and attic; with hexagonal shafts, bands of round-headed geometrical blind tracery over ground floor openings, parapet inscribed "MANCHESTER" "LAW LIBRARY" either side of centre, full attic storey; recessed doorway to right under screen of open tracery; large 3-light sashed windows on both floors, all with trefoil lights and all at 1st floor with quatrefoils above, and that in the centre in an oriel with open-arcaded parapet; arcaded trefoil-headed attic windows, also sashed. Dentilled cornice. Interior not inspected.
