10 houses, now shops and stores. c1790, with C19 and C20
alterations. Brick, colourwashed, with ashlar dressings and
slate roofs and 9 brick ridge stacks. 3 storeys; 22-window
range. Windows are mainly plain sashes with splayed lintels.
No.43 has a canted first-floor oriel window with panelled
parapet and central open pediment on brackets, with a plain
sash flanked by wooden cross casements. No.44 has 2-light
wooden-framed casements with transoms, and No.51 has C20
single-light windows. Above, smaller windows, mainly plain
sashes, with splayed lintels. No.43 has 3 segment-headed
sashes, Nos.44 & 45 have 6-pane sashes, Nos.50 & 51 have late
C20 casements. Ground-floor has mainly late C20 shop fronts
with fascias. No.43 has a recessed central glazed door flanked
by splayed showcases. These buildings are an important
survival of the city's planned redevelopment in the late C18,
in terms of design and scale.
