Promenade shelter. Probably c.1900, slightly altered. Cast-iron, painted brown and yellow ochre, with hipped wooden felt-clad roof. Rectangular 2-bay double-sided plan with longitudinal partition. Single storey. The structure has a frame of slender cast-iron columns at the corners and in the centre of each side, with fluted bases and debased Greek Corinthian capitals, and ornamental open-work cast-iron brackets to the beams and the eaves. The end walls and central partition are formed of cast-iron panels in the lower half, with moulded decoration (flowers, etc), and arcades of round-headed arches in the upper half; and the partition has low scrolled brackets to support the wooden benches on each side. An interesting survival, redolent of the Edwardian seaside holiday.
