Details
ARTHUR ROAD 1. 5104 Edgbaston B15 No 3 SP 0584 NE 49/5 II GV 2. Corner site with Ampton Road. Circa 1853 Italianate 2 storey stucco villa with set back service wing to left screened by yard wall incorporating coach house at far end. The main front of 3 bays with plinth; plat band; moulded panelled frieze and flat boxed eaves to hipped slate roof. Three light later C19 segmental corniced dormer to centre front and flanking corniced chimney stacks linked by dormers to sides. Windows have eared architrave surrounds with consoles to sills, pulvinated friezes and moulded cornices, with consoles on ground floor where the cornices are linked by the plat band. Segmental pediment to central first floor window. Large central porch of Corinthian columns with pilasters to wall, revealed 4 panel door with semi-circular fanlight. Single storey projection to right of front with pilasters forms side of canted bay to return falling Ampton Road which is otherwise, identical in its fenestration to the front. To the left of front the screen wall partially concealing the service wing is pierced by a segmental archway giving into the coach house the roof of which appears behind the parapet.
