Details

ST THOMAS - SX 28 SE 2/75 Carneadon - GV II

Farmhouse, now house. Mainly late C18 on site of and incorporating parts of a late C16 building; late Cl9 addition with later alterations. Roughly coursed slate-stone with some granite banding to low range; asbestos slate hanging to front gable of C19 addition; slate roofs, hipped to left of low range. Low range with parallel gabled range to rear and C19 gabled range slightly projecting to right. Low range has 2 late C20 plastic casements in earlier openings directly below eaves and 2 plastic casements with segmental brick heads on ground floor. Sloping buttress to left. Valley stack with yellow brick shaft at junction with rear range. Lean-to to left carried down from hip. Cl9 addition has 2 plastic casements on first floor and one to ground floor to right of half-glazed door. Internal lateral stack with red brick shaft to right. Interior: Full inspection not possible at time of resurvey (January 1988) but noted as having late C16 granite fireplace with moulded jambs and 4-centred arch to valley stack. Victorian encaustic tiles to C19 addition.
