BLETCHINGDON SP51NW 2/14 Bletchingdon Park, stables and attached walls approx. 150m ENE of Bletchingdon Park
GV II
Stables, partly converted to domestic accommodation. 1782, by James Lewis. Limestone ashlar; hipped Welsh slate roof; brick ridge stacks. Courtyard plan, with buildings enclosing 3 sides of yard and wall to south side. Georgian style. Central rusticated entrance with keyed semi-circular arch over entry, dentilled cornice and domed clock turret. Keyed stone lintels over 6-pane sashes and C20 doors with overlights. Mounting block to right. Range to right has keyed semi-circular arches over former coachhouse entries with C20 fenestration. Gable ends, each of 2-window range, have keyed stone lintels over blind windows, over semi-circular arched blind recesses. Subsidiary features: walls enclosing south side of yard, of limestone ashlar with rusticated gatepiers flanking central entry.
