Farmhouse. Mid C18, enlarged and altered. Coursed sandstone rubble and some random rubble, the front pebble-dashed and the ends rendered; slate roof. Double-depth double-fronted main range with single-depth one-bay addition to left. Two storeys and cellar, 3-window range; originally almost symmetrical; the doorway, offset left of centre of the main range, has a wooden surround and a recessed and panelled door; the windows are all square, with cement surrounds and C20 casements. Roof with wooden bracketed eaves, gable chimneys, and ridge chimney at junction with addition. Rear has similar fenestration, including central stair-window with early C20 stained glass. INTERIOR: direct entry to front left room (partition between rooms removed); doorways on both floors with pegged wooden cases and doors with raised fielded panels and mostly with HL hinges; 2-room cellar with stone keeping tables in both; good mid-C18 doglegged staircase with open string, scrolled brackets, columnar newels, and a moulded handrail with an inverted ramp at the half-landing and a sturdy scrolled curtail at the foot. The garden wall, enclosing a rectangular front garden, is of sandstone rubble, approx 1m high, with a flat coping and ball finials flanking a plain gateway in line with the front door of the house. Forms group with barn approx 30m south-east (qv).
