House. C16 hall house. Faces S. Timber frame plastered with
half-hipped thatched roof. Inserted C17 stack one third from E
end, inserted floor and winding stair. Boarded door next to
stack. 3 structural bays with tension bracing. Clasped purlin,
collar roof with curved wind braces and with infilled partitions
below trusses. 4-light C16 window with diagonally set square
mullions survives on rear in W bay and evidence for similar
window in centre of W and middle bays of side walls. Swept
jowled heads to bay posts. Inserted floor to hall has chamfered
edges to axial beam and joists. Modern half-hipped extension to
E end. S front plastered with 4 windows and central door. One
medieval 4-light oak window on left and 2-light wooden casements
flank door. 3-light casement to E extension. 2 swept dormers
front and back.
