II
Canal culvert, carrying Leeds-Liverpool Canal over Eller Brook. c.1771. Resident engineer, John Longbotham. For the Leeds-Liverpool Canal Company. Coursed sandstone rubble. Segmental arch with plain voussoirs, a plain band, and a parapet finished with one course of large blocks and a rounded coping; curved and sloped abutment on west side, with coping carried down from band. Forms part of one of the earliest trunk canals in the country.
