SD40NW LADY ALICE'S DRIVE 663-1/4/73 (North side) Barn and shippon approx. 50m N of Needless Inn Farmhouse
GV II
Barn and shippon. Probably mid to later C18; altered. Red brick in English garden wall bond (4+1), stone slate roofs. Two rectangular blocks, both on east-west axis, the shippon range attached to the south-east corner of the barn. The barn is of 3 bays, with an altered waggon doorway to the 1st, a loading door over this, a doorway to the centre bay, and a diamond-pattern breather to the 3rd bay; and on the north side, a central waggon doorway protected by a shallow porch with splayed cheeks and a carried down roof. The shippon range to the right is 2-storeyed, with 4 doorways at ground floor, all except the 3rd with stable doors, 2 loading doors at 1st floor slightly to the left of the 1st and the 3rd doors below, and a small 6-pane fixed window at the right-hand end. INTERIOR: original wooden stalls, etc.
