House, now shop, originally one building with No.29 (qv). C17,
refronted and much altered C19 and C20. Timber-framed, yellow
brick front. Machine tiled roof behind parapet with stone
coping and dentil brick cornice. To left, shared with No.29,
is tall red chimneystack, with 4 clustered octagonal shafts,
and square plan oversailing courses and caps.
2 storeys. First floor has 3 modern windows, replacing former
sashes, with top hung casement vents, in reveals under rubbed
flat arches. C19 shopfront on ground floor, with pilasters,
consoles, cornice and former blind box. Recessed canted
entrance with twin leaf modern glazed doors, and plate glass
closed windows, with pierced cast-iron strip ventilators
above, moulded timber cills over cement stallrisers below.
Arched entrance at right to twitchell. Long rear outshoots
partly rebuilt formed Giffin's Yard in C19, one of the most
crowded urban housing groups.
