Block of shops and offices. 1901. Caröe. Red brick with stone dressings. Green slate roof. Eclectic classical style with Flemish touches. Almost symmetrical composition of eighteen main bays, the centre three set forward and also end three to left and end four to right with pediments to each. Four storeys plus two tiers of dormers. Shop windows to ground floor, mainly altered except to Nos. 57, 67 and 91. Windows to centre and end bays mullioned and transomed with half columns between. Intervening bays with giant thermal windows to first floor. Some sashes, with small panes and glazing bars; some leaded lights. Semicircular oriels at intervals to upper storeys. Cornice. Pedimented dormers with sunk parapets between. Tall polychromed chimneys.
