BRAY ASCOT ROAD SU 87 NE (west side, off) Holyport 9/3 Cresswells Farmhouse and attached garden wall G.V. II
Farmhouse, now 2 houses, and attached garden wall. Probably dates from C17, largely rebuilt C18, altered and extended Cl9 and C20; wall C19. Brick, some vitreous headers; old tile roofs, gabled, hipped and half-hipped of different heights. Nearly square plan formerly, now with extensions each end. Part 2 storeys, part 2 storeys and attics. 2 chimneys with clay pots. Sash windows with glazing bars, mostly C18; some C19 and C20. Gauged brick arches. Entrance (west) front: irregular. Oldest part in centre with brick string at first floor level. 2 gabled dormers with 2-light casement windows. Sash window in moulded architrave frame on first floor, similar window on ground floor but larger. C20 panelled entrance door on left, now disused. Right hand section: lower roof; one bay of similar windows. Left hand section set back slightly with one bay of similar windows and one C20, 2-light casement on right of first floor. To the left of this is a 3-bay C20 extension in similar style set right back. Entrance is now on east front of house. Garden wall on west, enclosing front garden. Semi-circular brick copings; approximately one metre high, 17 metres wide and five metres on returns, with C20 iron gate in each return. Interior: large inglenook chimney, and C17 panelling in dining room and drawing room.
