House. Probably early C19, although possibly incorporating earlier work. Local lias stone cut and squared; Welsh slate roof between stepped coped gables, to very shallow pitch; brick chimney stacks. Three storeys, 3 bays. Sash windows in plain openings with dovetailed stone lintols; 15-pane to ground floor, 12-pane to first and second floors; modern window to lower bay 3, which appears to be the site of a waterwheel said to have been removed early in C20; between bays 1 and 2 a 6-flush-panel door in matching opening, with C20 timber and slate porch: one early pattern leaded casement window in rear elevation otherwise later pattern casements. Interior not seen. Possible remains of other mill buildings on east corner. Mill first recorded 1155, became 'New Mill' from 1275, and continued until c1816; the dry course of the mill stream still identifiable (July 1985); presumably this house was reshaped soon after the mill closed. (VCH, Vol III, 1974).
