TINTAGEL SX 08 NE North Truas Farmhouse 4/163 GV II

Farmhouse. Circa early C20. Slate stone rubble and quartz. Rag slate roof with sprocketted eaves; gable ends with gable end to front wing on right and roof swept down over integral outshot to front left. Stone rubble gable end stack on left and axial stack to front wing on right. Overall 'L' shaped plan with double depth range and wing of 1 room plan on front right; the entrance in the angle between. The left hand side has a service outshot which continues across the front also accommodating an entrance porch to right. The reception room to rear left is heated by a gable end stack and is lit by a 3-light casement window on the rear elevation. To the right the right hand room and room in the front wing are probably both heated by a back-to-back fireplace served by an axial stack. Vernacular Revival Style. Front elevation faces enclosed court with outbuilding to east on right (qv outbuilding to east of North Truas Farmhouse) and second farmhouse to south-east on left (qv East Truas Farmhouse). The roof sweeps down over the single-storey outshot on left with gable end to 2-storey front wing on right. 1-light casement in outshot with segmental dressed stone arch to door near centre of elevation. A shallow full dormer lights the first floor. To the right, the gable end of the wing is pierced by a 3-light casement lighting the first floor chamber. The lower rear elevation faces west with an almost symmetrical 3-window front with glazing bars to the casements. Two 3-light casements with dressed stone-flat arches light the reception rooms whilst the small central 1-light casement lights the stair. First floor; two 3-light half dormers with raking roofs flank a central 2-light casement. Interior not fully inspected. Forms part of an interesting group with contemporary farmhouse probably built by the same architect on the south-east (qv East Truas Farmhouse) and contemporary outbuilding to front right on east (qv outbuildings to east of North Truas Farmhouse). Each of these buildings face inwards onto a grassed courtyard. To the south west is the earlier farmhouse which is now disused (qv Disused farmhouse to south west of north and east farmhouses at Truas).
