9/129 Barn 10 metres 27.9.65 south-east of No 20 (Old Hall) [ formerly listed as Tithe barn and outbuildings at No 18 (Old Hall) ]

Aisled-barn. Late C16 or early C17. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof. 5 bays. Quoins. Cart-entry, cut back out of southern aisle, has timber posts and lintel. Inserted shop window c1980, to right. Doorway set within the re-entrant angle. Left return has original doorway with composite jambs and chamfered surround for southern aisle. lst-floor taking-in-door to hayloft. Other inserted doorway and window with re-used wooden lintel retains small-paned glazing.
Interior: 5 bays of post-and-truss construction the post on padstones. Those either side of threshing-floor have king-posts and single vertical struts, with curved chamfered braces to tie-beam and arcade-plate. Extra truss next to 2nd western truss carries separate purlins with gap between trusses of 1 metre. 2 trusses with replaced fish-bone king-posts. North cart-entry has mortices for harr-hung door. Prominently sited next to the Old Hall (q.v.).
