Built as flats. 1891-93 by J E Trollope of Giles, Gough and Trollope. Red brick with stone dressings and stone ground floor, slate roofs. The Flemish-Renaissance details. Four storeys, basements, and attic with gables and dormers. Ten bays to Mount Street, 2 bay return to Carpenter Street. The stone faced ground floor (originally intended for shops but adapted for flats on completion) has debased Ionic pilaster framing, mullioned-transomed flat arched windows and flanking round arched recessed doorways, and supporting balustraded first floor stone balcony. The entrance to No 6 is splayed across corner. Above the paired doorways of Nos 8 and 9 rises a canted 8 light bay window through first and second floors. A single width bay window canted to one side only rises the same height above the doorway of No 1 Carlos Place. A similar 5 light bay window is set on corner above the entrance to No 6. Canted bays to Carpenter Street return. Other windows of 2 lights mullioned and transomed. Sill bands and cornice bands to all floors, decorative detailing to the gables. Part of same development as by same architect as Nos 2 to 8 Carlos Place q.v. Included only for group interest in Mount Street as part of the 1880s -90s rebuilding for the Grosvenor Estate.
