C15 or earlier origins, substantial alterations and extensions in C19 and C20. Coursed, squared dressed limestone, but ashlar in C19 wing, stone slate roof. A complex plan, with hall-house centre; to right (south) of this a C19 block at right angles, and to the left or stream side a mill building and an L-plan domestic block, with through-way. Entrance front in four sections. From the left: single storey with 2-light recessed chamfer mullion casement with hood, and chamfered surround doorway under gabled canopy on brackets; 2-storey, 2-window with two 2-light recessed chamfer mullions under continuous hood mould interrupted by late C20 gabled porch and door, beneath two 3-light C20 recessed chamfer mullion case- ments with hood moulds, and, far right, a segmental-pointed opening to through- out. Ashlar stack with capping to left gable; small early section with 4-light Perpendicular window beneath a 2-light small-pane casement dormer and a large stone stack backing on to through passage; at right angles to the last, high 2-storey C19 block with two over 3-light mullioned casement with hood moulds, and, in internal angle, a good 6-panel door. Plain gables with yellow brick stacks. Back has lean-to conservatory under three 2-light chamfer mullion case- ments and two 3-light gabled dormers. Back of range, from left: plain gable to C19 building; single light to early block; opening to through-way with arch hood at across at the top; deep projecting one storey wing; low wing with brick gable towards Painswick stream, and a basement accessible from the ground at lower level. Interior not fully inspected, but low centre building has crock-like construction to the dormer light and an arch-braced truss with wind bracing; at ground floor is a very deep spine beam with chamfers to run-out stops. This is an interesting a agglomeration.
