Sunken garden containing 2 summer houses. Late C19. Walls of
red brick with rough hewn stone facing. Entrances to the east
with decorative iron gates. Interior has at the south side a
summer house with balustraded base. 4 herms support the roof.
The north side has a pedimented wooden summer house with copper
roof. The pediment is supported on columns and has a modillion
cornice and central clock face. To the right is a doorway with
glazed door and overlight flanked by single columns. In the
north east corner is a projecting bay. Running around the edges
of the pools and tennis court are coped piers. The garden is
linked to Welbeck Abbey Ballroom via a rose arbor with part
rusticated walls, rock face ashlar rose troughs and a glazed
roof.
