Road over weir with parapets either side and gateway to the east.
Late C19 gateway. Early C20 weir by Hodgson of Loughborough.
The ashlar weir with single central arch on the south side has a
road over, flanked by single balustraded parapets set on rock-
face ashlar plinths. The ends of the parapets curve outwards,
turn out at a right angle and terminate in a single pier topped
with an urn. The iron gateway consists of gates, screens and
piers. Double iron gate with decorative fretwork, topped with
central panel decorated with a profile. Flanked by single hollow
iron piers on iron bases and with decorative fretwork, topped
with iron coping and family crest. Further flanked by similar
single gates, similar, single smaller piers, topped with a
different crest, similar, single, smaller double gates and
similar, single, small piers with a different crest. Either side
are 3 sets of decorative iron screens, decreasing in height
toward the outer edges and divided by 2 round decorative iron
piers on iron bases with rounded iron coping and terminating in a
single, similar, pier. These piers similarly decrease in height.
The first panel on the left/north side is missing.
