SARRE RAMSGATE ROAD TR 26 SE 3/126 (east side) 11-10-63 The Crown Inn
GV II Inn. C16 and clad C18. Timber framed and clad with painted brick. Plain tiled roof. Two storeys and attic with parapet and returned hip-end to right. One hipped dormer and stacks to right, centre left and offset and projecting at end left. Two glazing bar sashes on first floor, 3 on ground floor with shutters. Door of 6 panels to left, the top 2 glazed, in moulded surround with flat hood on brackets, and half-glazed door to right with open pediment on pilaster surround. Two storey canted bay on right return. Three painted boards on the first floor record the names of patrons to the Inn, mostly theatrical persons, who like Charles Dickens, frequented the premises largely for its Cherry Brandy, made to its own recipe since 1685.
