FRITWELL EAST STREET SP52NW (West side) 3/32 The Limes GV II
House. Late C17/early C18, and late C18/early C19. Limestone rubble with wooden lintels; artificial stone-slate roofs with stone-and-brick stacks. 2-unit plan, enlarged to 3 units. 2 storeys plus attic, and 2 storeys, 3-window front of earlier range has renewed 16-pane sashes and a blocked central door; there is also a small blocked first-floor window to extreme left. Steep-pitched roof has 2 gabled roof dormers and has stone-based gable stacks. The added bay to left has contemporary 2-light casements plus the present main entrance with a heavy plank door. The shallow-pitched roof has a brick stack to left. Right gable wall of main range has a pair of narrow windows plus similar blocked openings above. Rear has a tall central stair projection with a leaded casement in the gable. Interior: Open fireplace; spiral stair rising to attics; some re-used C17 panelling; butt-purlin roof.
