TQ 2981 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER OLD COMPTON STREET, W1 (south side) 58/84, 71/9 No. 29 23.11.78 II Terrace house. 1728 with C19 alterations. Stock brick with red brick dressings, concealed roof. 4 storeys. 5 windows wide. Ground floor has altered Victorian shop front. Upper floors have recessed glazing bar sashes (top floor centre blind) with red brick dressings and segmental arches. Parapet with coping. Rear elevation of plum coloured brick. Interior retains part of hall-passage panelling, plastered opening to staircase which is dog legged with cut and carved strings to lower flights and closed strings to upper ones, turned balusters and column newels, the compartment panelled; remains of panelling to 1st floor rooms and closet wing etc. Survey of London; vol XXXIII.
