Details

LOWER HEYFORD FREEHOLD STREET SP4824 (North side) 10/59 Forge House and attached farmbuilding range. GV II

House and barn. Probably C17, altered C18. Coursed marlstone rubble with wooden lintels; thatch roof with brick and rendered stacks. L plan. 2 storeys. Irregular 4-window front has small canted bay windows in bays one and 2 flanking a segmental-arched window which was formerly a doorway, and at first floor has a 2-light casement and a 12-pane sash with heavy glazing bars; right bay has a 6-panel door plus a 2-light casement, and has a pair of 2-light casements at first floor. Roof has stacks to both gables and to right of centre. A lower service bay abuts the left gable wall. The right gable wall has a small casement and returns to a short rear wing which is probably a later addition. A thatched stone farmbuilding range adjoins to rear. Interior not inspected.
