Details
TQ 2880 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER PARK LANE, Wl 68/57 (east side) 24.2.58 No. 98 G.V. II Terraced "second rate" town house. 1823-25 by John Goldicutt, also architect of the adjoining No 99. Stuccoed ground floor and later C.19 stucco facing to upper floors, slate roof. 4 original main storeys and basement with late C.19 attic storey. Through storey canted bay to centre of front up to attic floor level, with narrow side windows on 2nd floor only. Channelled ground floor with entrance to left, pannelled door with moulded transom beneath semicircular fanlight. Flat arched recessed sashes and casements. Main entablature over 2nd floor, cornice and blocking over 3rd floor and shallow cornice with blocking crowning later attic. Cast iron geometric balcony to 1st floor with later tent roof over on plain supports and tent roofed canted bay window to attic with iron guard rail. Spear head and lotus finialed area railings. Interior combines original Goldicutt features, particularly the staircase, cornices etc. with decoration in the French taste of c. 1900 in the principal rooms.
