Details

SHUSTOKE COLESHILL ROAD SP29SW (North side) Blyth Mill 2/188 Blyth Mill GV II Watermill. 1754, with early C19 wheelhouse extension at north end. Red brick, mainly English bond. Plain-tiled roof with dentil eaves cornice. Timber gabled lucam to west side, now clad in corrugated iron and supported on timber brackets. Straight north-south range of 6 bays, having the undershot water wheel, mid C19, in the addition at the north end. 2 storeys and loft. 5 first floor windows, 3 under segmental arches. Hoist opening has a boarded door. At ground floor 2 doorways, one with a split door. Segmental arch to opening on site of former mill race, diverted in mid C19 and now under north end of the mill. The date and initials R and G are inscribed in a sandstone block to a window sill. Interior: Cast iron water wheel and gears are intact. 3 overdriven stones. Internal undershot waterwheel, 1861.
