Sundial, mid C17. Found in Temple Sowerby village, it was moved first of all to Millrigg, ¼ mile from Acorn Bank. Cubic sundial sits on top of square stone which is placed centrally on oval table supported on 2 turned balusters. Sundial plate and gnomen are missing. The coats-of-arms of the Dalston and Fallowfield families are on opposite faces of the sundial with an inscription on the other 2 faces which runs as follows: "Staie, Passenger, tell me my name and thy nature./Thy name is Dieall, I a mortal creature" and "Since my name and thy nature soe agree,/ Think of thyself when thou looks upon me."
