Pair of houses, 1864, of cream brick with yellow sandstone bands, imposts and keystones and grey slate roofs with deep modillioned eaves. Italianate. The front of 2 storeys has recessed centre with 2 windows of 3 lights under skewback arches to lower storey and of 2 lights under round arches to upper storey. Wings of 1 window have pediment gables to front, square, hipped 1-storey bay windows of 4 round-arched lights and 2-light bedroom windows under skewback arches. Italianate chimneys. Entrances in gabled porches in ends; the right end (No.16) has a 4-panel door in timber case with plain segmental fanlight and a square oriel, right, on corbels of stone. The left end (No.18) has double part-glazed doors and a mid C20 alteration, in keeping, towards rear. Interior: No,16 has an open-well stair under a small, glazed dome; 4-panel doors; internal shutters; contemporary marble fireplaces in the 2 front rooms. No.18, of different plan, has similar features (except fireplaces).
