GV II
Farmhouse, 1866, by John Douglas, probably for R.E.Egerton-Warburton. Brown brick and oak framing with rendered panels; grey slate roof, with cross-gable right and projecting wing left, has diminishing chimney on face of cross-gable, lateral chimney left and 1 ridge chimney, all shaped. 2 full storeys. The attics in front gable, left, and cross-gable are oak-framed. 4-light mullioned and transomed parlour window, left, has 4-light bedroom window over and small 3-light window to attic formed in frame of gable. Boarded door has glazed shouldered top panels and parallel braces, under lean-to porch on shaped brackets. A single-light window right of door has a small single-light window and a 3-light mullioned window above. The cross-gable has a tall wood casement to lower storey and a small framed casement standing proud of the wall to each side of the chimney, on brackets, to upper storey. In the right end a 5-light mullioned and transomed window to lower storey and a 3-light mullioned window to upper storey. All mullioned windows are leaded. One of the earliest identified farmhouses by Douglas. It shows his neo-vernacular style in course of development. Interior not inspected.
