No. 89 (Rycliff Farmhouse) with attached garden wall

Farmhouse and attached garden wall. Mid or late C17; altered in C19. Coursed squared sandstone, stone slate roof. L-plan formed by two-unit main range with rear wing to first unit. Three storeys, two-bay facade rebuilt in C19, symmetrical; central doorway with overlight, two- four-pane sashed windows on each floor (of diminishing height). Gable copings with kneelers. External gable chimneys. Left gable wall has a double-chamfered square window on each floor to rear of chimney, all lacking the mullions. Two-storey wing continued to rear has doorway and three-light horizontal sliding sash at ground floor, similar two-light window above; gable coping with kneelers, gable chimney (single-storey addition to rear not included in the item).
Rear of main range has two-storey outshut, with two two-light cellar windows, former doorway against angle with wing to the left of this, a transomed three-light window under hoodmould with run-out ends; an inserted doorway, an altered two-light window, and two similar windows above. (East gable wall, imperfectly visible, appears to have some C17 features). Interior: not inspected, but reported to be altered. Attached garden wall, enclosing rectangular front garden, probably contemporary with house, of large rectangular blocks with ridged coping; front lower than right-hand side, and left side lower than front; small gateway at junction with left corner of house.
