2. This building is the old Town Hall of Hackney and is so inscribed in the pediment. 1802 house, converted to use as Town Hall and doorway altered in 1900. 2 storeys, 4 windows. Ashlar facing with quoins, entablature with modillion cornice and pediment over 2 slightly projecting centre bays. Tall flanking parapet with balustraded sections. Rusticated architravesd with keystones to sash windows with glazing bars on 1st floor. Rusticated ground floor forming voussoirs to round headed windows with modern glazing. Central double door, with cornice head and radial fanlight, in moulded architrave with keystone. Doorcase of panelled pilasters, lion masks and wreaths in frieze and scrolled serpentine open pediment bearing cartouche, garlands and date 1900 within. 3-bay side elevations with some windows blocked.
