1. MARE STREET E8 5013 -------------- No 224 TQ 3484 25/364 II GV
2. Early C19 house of 3 storeys and basement, 1 window on Mare Street and 5-bay right return to Darnley Road. Stock brick with stone cornice band and parapet coping. On Darnley Road pediment with round panel over 3 central bays. Gauged flat brick arches, some to sash windows with glazing bars others to blank panels. 1st floor cill band. Central round-headed window in wide, stuccoed round-arched recess. Stuccoed plinth. Added right entrance extension has plain door and rectangular fanlight under bracketed cornice hood. Mare Street front has wide round arched stuccoed recess framing 1st and 2nd floor sash windows with glazing bars (the lst floor tripartite) in moulded architraves. Impost string at 2nd floor level. Ground floor and basement a rounded bow with frieze, cornice and blocking course and 3 ground floor windows. Central basement entrance flanked by modern casements.
Nos 224 to 232 (even) form a group.
