TQ 2881 NE CITY OF WESTMINSTER PORTLAND PLACE,Wl 45/8 (West side) 5.2.70 No 69 G.V. II End of terrace large town house. Mid C19 rebuild. Gault brick with Portland stone dressings and channelled and vermiculated ground floor; slate roof. Restrained Itlianate Classicism. 4 storeys and basement with dormered mansard. Broad 3-window wide front with 9-window return to Devonshire Street with entrance. Shallow Doric columned porch with iron balustraded parapet. Recessed sashes in architrave surrounds to upper floors, those on 1st and 2nd floors with cornices. Stone balcony with enriched late Grecian patterned continuous balustrade to 1st floor; 2nd floor sill course and sharply profiled bracketed crowning cornice with coped parapet. Similar details to return. Plumbed finialed cast iron area railings.
