TQ 2679 SE CITY OF WESTMINSTER QUEEN'S GATE, SW7 TQ 2679 SW (east side) 93/3 94/3 24.2.58 No 170 GV II* Mansion. 1888. R Norman Shaw. Red brick. Hipped tiled roof to eaves. Wren revival style. Main facade to Imperial Institute Road. Three storeys, attic and basement. Seven bays wide. Almost symmetrical. Rusticated quoins of painted stone. Central entrance with richly carved stone doorcase with Corinthian fluted pilasters and split segmental pediment. Decorative fanlight. Panelled door. Windows with cut brick gauged heads and aprons. Sashes, small panes and timber glazing bars. Timber louvred shutters. Rich modillion cornice. Central curved pedimented dormer with Serlian motif inset. Two casemented corners with segmental pediments to either side. Tall stacks. Single storey three bay extension to right with arched windows. Returns also of interest. Interior not seen.
