3/149 Barn and cartshed range to NW of Aldwincle Lodge (to south of Wadenhoe Great Wood)

Barn and cartshed range. Mid/late C18 with C19 alterations. Coursed squared stone with stone quoins and dressings and some buff brick to C19 work. Store coped gables and corrugated roofs. 2 barns, that to left (nearer Aldwincle Lodge q.v.) of 5 bays, that to right of probably 9 bays, the right end converted to cartshed and loft C19. Barn to left has central double doorway, with single door to rear. On left end are window, with loft door over flanked by small shuttered windows. To rear are 2 C19 windows with 2 boarded openings over. Interior: roof has collars to principals and trenched purlins. Barn to right has double doorway to centre left with opposing blocked doorway to rear and to right a row of 5 brick archways with 2 C19 windows over. Lean-to on right end. Interior has pegged King-post truss roof with trenched purlins. Cn tie to left of threshing floor is inscribed what might be 'AC 1776TT'. This is a possible date for the barn. Included for group value only.
