TQ 2881 SE and 2981 SW CITY OF WESTMINSTER REGENT STREET Wl 56/115; 57/3 (east side) 22.11.73 Nos 314 to 326 (even) (including Nos 11 and 12 Little Portland Street and Nos 101-105 Mortimer Street ) GV II Built as block of shops and offices. c.1924 by Sir Henry Tanner, completed by Constantine and Vernon in 1925. Portland stone, slate roofs. Classical style with Beaux Arts details. Ground floor with mid and later C20 shop fronts but retaining elements of pilaster frames under entablature. Four storeys, attic and 2 tiers of dormers in steep mansard. Upper floors have 11 window bays, one-window splayed corners, 9 window return to Little Portland Street and 8 window return to Mortimer Street. Metal casement windows,those on first and second floors in recessed architraved bays with cornices. The 3 bays each end of front are flanked by pilasters carrying entablature with dentil cornice. Attic cornice surmounted by urn finials. The ground floor entablature has carved triumphal ornaments between the 3 principal sections of the facade. Cast iron balconies to first floor windows. The ridge of mansard has bronze cresting and bronze triumphal ornaments as terminal acroteria.
