Details
STOKE WAKE ST 70 NE 9/170 The Manor House 4.10.60 GV II* House, c.1700 with mid C19 south additions. North range: coursed rubble ground floor with brick (Flemish garden bond) first floor, ashlar dressings. Tiled roof with stone slate verge, gable-ended with brick end stack left. 2 storeys and attic, 5 window range. Ground-floor has stone, hollow chamfered, mullioned windows with square heads. These are of 4 lights except for that left of doorway which is of 5 lights. Upper floor windows are of timber with leaded-lights and correspond to those of the ground floor. Window over the door is of 3-lights. Central doorway is of ashlar with a moulded, eared architrave, a keystone and an entablature with a broken segmental pediment. Moulded plinth and ashlar plat-band. East wall has a projecting chimney-breast. The building is listed for the early range rather than the C19 wing. "RCHM, Dorset, vol III", pp 258-159, no 2.
