House, post office at time of listing, later converted into apartments. Early C18. Brick, Flemish bond, with gauged red brick to dressings and details. Parapetted roof with swept end parapets and original end stacks. Double pile main range with kitchen wing at rear. Three storeys. Symmetrical facade framed by giant corner pilasters, dentil main cornice and divided by moulded brick bands. Ranges of five recessed hung sashes with arched top panes in gauged arches with rusticated surrounds and having stone sills and red brick apron panels. Central doorway with original doorcase of broken segmental pediment on fluted pilasters with entablature. Door now half glazed but four original raised and fielded panels to lower half. Rear wall rendered but with similar corner pilasters and a coved eaves. Segmental arch and open boxing to a hung sash to the staircase window. The kitchen wing is contemporary. Possibly timber framed, more likely brick with upper gable end framed. Steeply pitched roof. Two storeys and attic. C20 fenestration to gable end on site of original but with some enlargement. Later C18 addition at the rear has a C19 slate, lean-to roof and an original panelled door.
Inside: at both ground and first floors there are original doorways with doors of eight raised and fielded panels in segmental arches. There is a fine open-string staircase of four flights and landings with three symmetrical balusters to each tread, clusters of similar balusters as newels, scroll tread ends and a swept rail, renewed. The staircase dado has raised and fielded panelling with fluted pilasters.
