GV II

House. Late C17 with C18 and C19 alterations and additions. 2 parallel ranges. Late C17/C18 fronting main road and C19 to rear. Ironstone ashlar. Steeply pitched red-tile roof. Stone-coped gables with moulded kneelers. Stone ridge and internal stacks. Entrance now into C19 part. Elevation fronting main road. 2 storeys plus attic. 3-window range. Ground floor has casements with margin glazing and C20 a window with a wood lintel. First floor has 3 sash windows with wood lintels, the side windows having been reduced in width, and probably replacing wood mullioned and transoned windows. Three 2-light roof dormers with moulded cornices. Lead cames, crown glass and wrought-iron casement fasteners. Single storey ashlar extension projecting at centre. Interior. Stick baluster staircase with wreathed headrail. (VCH: Oxfordshire: Vol X, p212)
